properly configure browser for Java

it worked before and I don't know what's going on nowl When I attempt to open an old project, I get nothing. The IDE is opened but no code. I go ahead and attempt to preview it to see if that helps, and it says my browser(IE in Windows 7) is not properly configured for Java. so I download the jdk and jre, and try to instll it, but it says the jre is already installed? What do I do.
