Fairly new to programming here. Was wondering if it's possible to use the SDK of Direct X here or does that matter for just compiling?

Howdy,
You should be able to upload a managed direct x library to a C# or VB.net project and it will compile. Or you could create an XNA project to do 3d if you are looking to make a game.
