Course Rates
Upon viewing the site for the first time, I noticed, and was quite interested in, the Courses section. I saw that it was $4 per month, which I thought was a pretty good deal. I went later in the afternoon to show a buddy of mine who was also interested, and by then the pricing scheme was changed to a one-time $300 fee. A little steep, I thought. I don't think I'm ready for that kind of investment just yet. Perhaps both the one-time fee AND an alternative per-month fee? (At perhaps more than $4, if you need the upkeep funds?)
The other problem here, which is made a little worse by the price change, is that (as far as I can tell) you cannot see the quality of content within the Courses until you pay for full access to them. I have no reason (yet!) to trust that it is a worthwhile purchase. It could be the most beautiful tutorial ever transcribed in digital format... or it could be monkey-typed gibberish that only makes sense to its creator. Judging by the quality of the rest of the site, I'd say its probably good work, but I have not been convinced one way or the other. Perhaps a small (free) mini-tutorial in a language or two (or all of them?).
Hi Ghost! Good point. We are always experimenting withing pricing to find out what price is bet aligned with our target market. We'll look at adding some type of "trial" to the courses, that allows you to get a taste of it.
